Report on Road Maintenance for Timin Hydro Site Restoration

Following the catastrophic flooding that severely damaged the Timin Hydro power system at Mambisanda Immanuel Lutheran Rural Hospital, road maintenance has become a critical priority before addressing the hydro site repairs. The hospital, which has depended on the Timin Hydro for decades, is now facing an urgent need to ensure the safe transportation of maintenance tools and equipment required for the restoration of the hydro system.

The road that connects the main road to the Timin Hydro is a locally built 1.5-kilometer stretch that has been vital for the transportation of necessary materials to the site. However, current road conditions are suboptimal, posing significant risks to hospital staff and local community members as they attempt to transport critical supplies. The road’s poor state, worsened by the flood, threatens the safety of all personnel involved.

Due to this, immediate efforts are underway to fix and stabilize the road. The repairs will focus on improving its structure, ensuring it can safely accommodate vehicles and equipment used for hydro maintenance. This will provide a safer and more reliable route for transporting necessary tools, medical equipment, and construction materials, which are essential for the timely repair of the hydro system.

Locals are volunteering to assist in this vital road repair process. Community members have come together to help by loading stones, gravel, and other materials, as well as transporting supplies to the affected sites. Their support is invaluable in speeding up the restoration process and ensuring the safe delivery of materials to the hydro site.

Ensuring the road is in good condition is the first step before any further work can be done at the Timin Hydro site. Once the road repairs are complete, the hospital and local authorities will proceed with assessing and fixing the damaged infrastructure at the hydro facility, which includes the turbine house and dam area, both of which suffered significant damage from the flooding.
